Edustajistovaalien ehdokasasettelu jatkuu / Uppställningen av kandidater till delegationsvalet fortsätter / Nomination of candidates for the Representative Council elections continues

By the deadline, 11 people run for candidates in TaiYo's Representative Council elections, which is four less than there are seats in the council. These persons will be elected to the Representative Council without an election, and a by-election will be held for the other seats.

Based on the student union’s election order, TaiYo's Central Election Committee has declared the candidates applied by the deadline to be elected to the Representative Council and decided to a by-election instead of the actual Representative Council elections, in which the remaining members of the Representative Council are elected. In the by-election, 4 members of the Representative Council and 15 deputy members will be elected to accompany the 11 members who have now been elected without an election.

Candidate registration for the by-election is now underway, and all candidate nomination forms and agreements on electoral coalitions and election alliances must be submitted by Friday 13 October at 12.00 noon. All student union members who have registered as present or absent at Uniarts Helsinki can stand as candidates in the by-election. The voting date will not change, i.e. the voting days for the by-election will be 2.11., 7.11. and 8.11.2023. All members of the student union who have registered as present have the right to vote in the by-election. Instructions on how to stand as a candidate and all the necessary forms can still be found on TaiYo's website at http://www.taiyo.fi/en/vaalit.

The Representative Council, elected for a two-year term, is the highest decision-making body of the Student Union. It decides, among other things: TaiYo's membership fee, approves the action plan and budget and elects the student members of the Student Union Board, the Secretary General and the University of the Arts Board.

The decision of the Central Election Committee is based on Section 35 of the Student Union's Election bylaw, according to which "If fewer candidates have been accepted to the list of candidates than there are candidates to be elected, no election shall be held, but the Central Election Committee shall declare these candidates elected and shall hold a by-election in accordance with this electoral order.
