TaiYo is looking for harrasment contact persons – apply now!

The Student Union of University of the Arts (TaiYo) is looking for 1–2 studerande to act as student harassment contact persons and help prevent inappropriate behaviour at the University of the Arts Helsinki. Applications are especially encouraged from students of the Theatre Academy and the Academy of Fine Arts.

Harassment contact persons are individuals whom students can approach for advice and support if they experience inappropriate behaviour, such as sexual harassment or bullying related to their studies. The role of a harassment contact person is not to act as a professional counsellor or adjudicator, but rather as a low-threshold peer support person with whom students can confidentially discuss possible cases of harassment, bullying, discrimination or other inappropriate conduct. Harassment contact persons may also provide guidance on how a student can proceed in addressing and resolving a situation. They receive training for the role, as well as ongoing guidance and support, and are paid an annual compensation for their work.

If you are interested in serving as a harassment contact person, please send an informal application to taiyo-paasihteeri@uniarts.fi by Wednesday, 16 September 2025 at 23:59, briefly explaining your motivation for the role and any previous experience or expertise relevant to the position. In the selection process, attention will also be paid to representation in terms of gender, language skills and academy affiliation. Applicants will be interviewed.

For further information about the role and serving as a harassment contact person, please contact TaiYo Secretary General Jane Kärnä (tel. +358 40 710 4296).
