Tänä vappuna on 4 vuoden tauon jälkeen Taideyliopiston ylioppilaskunnan vuoro lakittaa Havis Amandan patsas! Lakitus tapahtuu perinteiseen tapaan Kauppatorilla vapunaattona 30.4. klo 18.00, ja lakituksen ohessa otamme kantaa ilmastokriisiin ja kestävän kehityksen puolesta. Lakituksen myötä kaikilla TaiYo:n jäsenillä on nyt mahdollisuus päästä esiintymään valtaisalle yleisölle, osallistumaan ainutkertaiseen opiskelijaperinteeseen tai tienaamaan rahaa itselleen tai järjestölleen pientä työpanosta vastaan.
- Haluatko esiintyä kymmenille tuhansille ihmisille? Lakituksen osana toteutetaan monitaiteinen spektaakkeli, jonka tekijöiksi haetaan Taideyliopiston opiskelijoita. Kokonaisuus rakennetaan mukanaolijoiden osaamisen pohjalta pieneen (mutta sitäkin ikimuistoisempaan) tilaan sovitettuna. Haluatko juuri sinä soittaa yläilmoista saksofonia tai lausua manifestia lakitusta seuraavalle yleisömerelle, tai suunnitella miten tuomme sanomamme esiin visuaalisesti? Kerro mitä haluaisit tehdä, niin katsotaan yhdessä kuinka se saataisiin sopimaan tapahtuman kokonaisuuteen!
- Haluatko olla yksi lakittajista tai kertoa, kenelle kunnia kuuluisi? Perinteisesti ylioppilaskuntien hallitukset ovat vallanneet patsaan ympärillä roikkuvien lakittajien paikat itselleen, mutta viimeksi luodun käytännön mukaisesti TaiYo avaa paikat kaikkien ylioppilaskunnan toimijoiden tavoiteltaviksi. Siispä kysymmekin: kenen tulisi roikkua kunniakkailla lakituspaikoilla? Ehdota opiskelijoita, jotka ovat luoneet hyvää henkeä ja hyviä toimintatapoja, edistäneet akatemioiden välistä vuorovaikutusta tai muuten toimineet ansiokkaasti yliopistoyhteisössä!
- Haluatko ansaita itsellesi tai järjestöllesi rahaa? Tapahtumaan vaaditaan iso joukko väliaikaisia järjestyksenvalvojia, ja maksamme mieluusti erikseen sovittavan korvauksen järjestöille tai muille porukoille, jotka pystyvät kokoamaan tapahtumaan 5-20 hengen joukon järjestyksenvalvojia. Myös yksityishenkilöt voivat ilmoittautua mukaan, niin kokoamme kaikista halukkaista sopivan porukan. Järkkäreiden ei tarvitse olla Taideyliopiston opiskelijoita eikä heillä tarvitse olla JV-korttia, vaan kuka tahansa täysi-ikäinen henkilö kelpaa – kunhan sitoutuu olemaan paikalla selvin päin ja koko poliisin edellyttämän ajan (30.4. arviolta klo 16-20; kellonajat täsmentyvät vielä).

ArtSU crowns the Manta statue on May Day Eve 30 Apr – come and join us!
This year, after a 4-year break, it is ArtSU’s turn to carry out one of Finland’s biggest student traditions and crown the Havis Amanda statue with a student cap! The crowning will take place traditionally on May Day Eve, 30 April at 6pm at Helsinki’s Market Square, and as a part of the event, we will take a stand on the climate crisis and on sustainable development. The event also gives ArtSU’s members the opportunity to perform to a huge audience, to participate in a unique student tradition and to earn money for themselves or their organization for a small amount of work.
- Do you want to perform to tens of thousands of people? As part of the crowning event, we will create a multidisciplinary art performance and we’re looking for Uniarts students to take part in it. The show will be built on the craft and talent of its participants, and fitted in a small (but very memorable) space. Do you want to play the saxophone in the sky, recite a manifesto to an ocean of people or plan how we will visualize our climate message? Tell us what you would like to do, and let’s see how it fits the big picture of the event!
- Do you want to be one of the people crowning the statue, or to tell us who should get the honour? Traditionally, Student Union boards have taken over these places at the center of the show, but just like four years ago, ArtSU is opening up the places for all members of the Student Union to pursue. So we ask: who should get the honour to put the cap on the statue’s head? Suggest students who have created a good atmosphere, promoted good practices or interaction between academies, or otherwise have served the university community well!
- Do you want to make some money for yourself or your organization? A large number of temporary security guards will be required for the event, and we will be happy to pay a separately agreed fee to organizations or other groups capable of bringing together 5 to 20 guards. Individuals can also sign up. Temporary guards do not have to be Uniarts students and do not need an official security guard licence: anyone of legal age is eligible, as long as they commit to being present and sober for the full time required by the police (30 April, approximately 4pm-8pm; exact times to be specified).
