In the TaiYo representative council elections, 14 individuals submitted their candidacy by the deadline, which is one fewer than the number of seats available in the representative council. These fourteen individuals will be appointed to the representative council without an election, and a by-election will be held to fill one regular member seat and the deputy member positions.
In accordance with the student union's election order, the student union’s central election committee has declared the candidates who registered by the deadline as elected to the representative council and decided to organize a by-election instead of the regular representative council elections. In the by-election, one regular member and alternate members will be elected to join the fourteen members who were appointed without an election.
Candidate registration for the by-election is now open. All candidate notifications, as well as agreements on electoral alliances and electoral rings, must be submitted no later than Monday, October 13 at 2:00 PM. All TaiYo members who are registered as present or absent at the University of the Arts Helsinki are eligible to run in the by-election. The voting dates remain unchanged: October 30, November 4, and November 5, 2025. All student union members registered as present have the right to vote in the by-election. Instructions for candidacy and all necessary forms are still available on: http://www.taiyo.fi/en/vaalit.

The Representative Council, elected for a two-year term, is the highest decision-making body of the Student Union. It decides, among other things: TaiYo's membership fee, approves the action plan and budget and elects the student members of the Student Union Board, the Secretary General and the University of the Arts Board.
The decision of the Central Election Committee is based on Section 35 of the Student Union's Election bylaw, according to which "If fewer candidates have been accepted to the list of candidates than there are candidates to be elected, no election shall be held, but the Central Election Committee shall declare these candidates elected and shall hold a by-election in accordance with this electoral order.”
