Apply to be a Master of Ceremonies at the Opening of the Academic Year 2025-2026!

TaiYo is looking for three MCs for the Opening of the Academic Year 2025-2026. The event has traditionally had three students as MCs, representing the three academies of the universities and the three languages: Finnish, Swedish and English.  

An important part of the MCs job is to make the event relaxed and welcoming for the whole community. We are looking for applicants who are willing to throw themselves into the task of MC, and who are enthusiastic about and committed to the position. 

The tasks of the MCs are: 

  • A few meetings with representatives from the university planning the event 
  • Writing their own lines 
  • One rehearsal with representatives from the university 
  • visit to Teak’s wardrobe for choosing a wardrobe for the event  
  • MCing the event 11 September at R-talo at the Töölö Campus 

Each MC will receive a payment of 400 euros for the job. 

How to apply? 

To apply for MC you must submit a written application and a short video. 

 

Instructions for the written application 

Write an application (max 1 A4 page) where you introduce yourself, describe why you are applying for MC and what kind of possible skills or experiences you have that could be useful in the position. Remember to mention in which languages you would be able to do the task and what you study. You can write the application in one language. 

Instructions for the video 

Film a short (max 90 seconds per language) video where you introduce yourself briefly, talk a little bit about the meaning of sense of community in the university and introduce an act (can be imaginary). You can film the video with e.g. your phone or computer, the important part is the content. Film the video in all of the languages (Finnish, English, Swedish) that you would be willing to do the job of MC with. You can include all the different languages into one video, or you may film separate videos for each language. 

 

Send both your written application and your video to TaiYo’s secretary general Jane Kärnä (taiyo-paasihteeri@uniarts.fi) by 25 May at 11:59 PM. 

If no MCs from each of the academies and the three languages cannot be found through the open call, TaiYo reserves the right to select the MCs from outside the applicants.
