<\/a><\/p>\r\nCongrats and welcome to the University of Arts Helsinki Student Union!<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\r\n(English version is coming!) TaiYon Vinkit uudelle opiskelijalle \u2013 mukana my\u00f6s taideopiskelijan sanakirja<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\nAs a bachelor\u2019s or master\u2019s degree student you are automatically part of the University of Arts Student Union (TaiYo). The purpose of the student union is to be a representative for students in the university\u2019s decision-making, build community across academy boarders and advocate for art students in society.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\nTaiYo\u2019s members study in the three different academies of Uniarts Helsinki: the Academy of Fine Arts, the Sibelius Academy and the Theatre Academy. In total, there are approximately 1700 members.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\nThe highest decision-making body is the Representative Council, RepCo, elected by the members. The RepCo decides on the goals, the budget and membership fee, amongst other things. The everyday of the student union is run by the Board, consisting of your fellow students, and our small team of employees. You can find us at Nervanderinkatu 13 (4th floor), where the student room is as well!<\/span>\u00a0

TaiYo is here for you<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\r\nTaiYo will be there to support you if you encounter advocacy challenges during your studies or when you want to make a difference in the university community\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\nTaiYo holds up the student community. TaiYo supports the student associations and academy committees that operate in the community. They organise events and other activities during the academic year.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\nTaiYo also offers support in the students\u2019 artistic project by offering a space, Vapaan taiteen tila (=Space for free arts) for free.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\nYou can find more information on the services TaiYo offers here.<\/a><\/span>\u00a0
<\/span><\/p>\r\nTutors - a helping hand in the beginning of your studies!<\/h3>\r\n
Every new student belongs to a tutoring group led by a tutor, an older student who helps and supports new students in the early phase of their studies. You can ask the tutor about anything from daily life to the practices of your academy.<\/p>\r\n
Your tutor will be in contact with you at the beginning of August!
