Congrats and welcome to the University of Arts Helsinki Student Union!<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

As a bachelor\u2019s or master\u2019s degree student you are automatically part of the University of Arts Student Union (TaiYo). The purpose of the student union is to be a representative for students in the university\u2019s decision-making, build community across academy boarders and advocate for art students in society.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

TaiYo\u2019s members study in the three different academies of Uniarts Helsinki: the Academy of Fine Arts, the Sibelius Academy and the Theatre Academy. In total, there are approximately 1700 members.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The highest decision-making power of TaiYo is exercised by the Representative Council elected by students in elections, which decides on the direction of the student union, the budget, and the amount of the membership fee. The day-to-day operations of TaiYo are run by a body composed of students board<\/a> and a team of office employees<\/a>. You can find us at Nervanderinkatu 13 (4th floor), in connection with the student room!<\/span>

You can always contact the Student Union with a low threshold, and we offer a helping hand to both individuals and communities \u2014 no issue is too small or too big! In addition to advocacy work, TaiYo provides a wide range of services: for example, you can book Vapaan taiteen tila for free, rent PA equipment, and twice a year you can apply for funding for student organisations and various community projects.\nRead more about the services TaiYo offers. here.<\/u><\/a>

Tutors - a helping hand in the beginning of your studies!<\/strong>
Every new student is part of a tutor group led by a tutor, i.e an older student who helps and supports new students at the start of their studies. You can ask your tutor anything, from everyday life matters to the practicalities of your own academy.\nYou will be contacted by your tutor at the beginning of August!<\/p>\n\t\t\n<\/div>\n
